Overview

The jewel of North Africa, Morocco presents a perfect marriage of art, culture, history, architecture and adventure. Morocco offers an appeasing cuisine, a diverse geography, an out of this world desert experience, historically rich medians, luxury riads, reinvigorating hammans, countless markets flooded with hand-made crafts and overall immense beauty. This Bucket list Moroccan trip will take us through some of the most spectacular excursions and adventures that Morocco is known for.

Though you are sure to be treated like royalty in Morocco, this itinerary takes us from the south to the north of Morocco thus a lot of travel will be involved with very few free days. It is a culturally rich experience that aims to uncover Morocco in 10 days.

We will begin in Casablanca, home to the largest functioning mosque in Africa. Maneuver the maze-like alleyways of Fes. Stroll the blue-painted streets of Chefchaouen. Ride a camel in the rolling sand dunes of the Sahara desert. Finally, we will end our trip in Marakkech, ‘the Red city of Morocco’ and wander the many souks, museums and luxurious riads.

We will discover the South to North of Morocco via road thus there will be a lot of hours spent on the road. This trip is suitable for those who do not mind long hours of driving.

Day 1 :

Flights will depart from O.R Tambo and all skies lead to Morrocco.

Day 2 :

Casablanca

Salaam Aleikum! Welcome to Morocco! Our Moroccan adventure begins in Casablanca. Upon arrival, we waste no time and drive from Casablanca to Fes. On the way, we will stop to marvel at the Hassan II Mosque which is the biggest functioning mosque in Africa.

Day 3 :

Medina

We will begin our visit of “the oldest living Medina in the world” with a local official tour guide. We will tour the Medina with its “souks” (markets).

Day 4 :

Chefchaouen

In the morning we will start our journey towards Chefchaouen, also known as the ‘blue city’ and is arguably one of the prettiest places in Morocco. Set against a wide valley and nestled between two peaks in the stunning Rif Mountains, Chefchaouen may take you by surprise. Its Medina has been lovingly cared for with striking blue and whitewashed houses, red-tiled roofs and artistic doorways. Enjoy this day roaming the blue-painted streets of Chefchaouen. Enjoy a walk to explore the white and blue washed walls of the medina and the markets that offer some unique native handicrafts. Chefchaouen is a fantastic destination for photography with its wonderful views of the Rif Mountains.

Day 5 :

Merzouga (Sahara Desert)

Rise and shine, we have an early departure this morning as we make our way towards Merzouga (Desert) for two nights of clamping.

Shortly after arriving we will start the camel trek and then spend the night in the desert in a Berber camp. We will enjoy the sights of the Sahara dunes and the sunset, we will be welcomed with a traditional Moroccan tea, later on the dinner will be served in the main tent (restaurant). After dinner, we will enjoy the desert music played by locals.

Day 6 :

Merzouga (Sahara Desert)

We wake up surrounded by the dunes this morning to watch a unique sunrise over the spectacular Erg Chebbi sand dunes, then enjoy breakfast in the expansive Sahara desert.

Today you will enjoy a free day in the desert.

Day 7 :

Marrakech

In the morning we will leave Merzouga in the morning, after breakfast. We will arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon around 16:00 – 17:00.

Day 8 :

Marrakech

Today we have a full day of exploring. Our Moroccan local tour guide will take us to all the authentic and cultural sites, including the Koutoubia Minaret and Palace of Bahia. In the afternoon, you will be able to stroll in the Medina area visiting its alleyways and shortcuts to explore the artisans artworks at Jemaa el Fna square.

For Dinner, we will learn to cook a traditional Moroccan dish. After that, the evening is free, giving you the opportunity to discover the square filled with conjurers, story-tellers and merchants.

Back home

After breakfast, we will spend the first few hours of the morning exploring Majorelle gardens were Yves Saint Laurent is buried.

We will stop for an early lunch before our transfer to the airport. It is time to say goodbye and at this point, your Moroccan bucket list should be ticked off. We hope you had an incredible cultural experience shared with like-minded travellers.

What is per person sharing?

All prices listed for our group trips are per person sharing, which means you will be paired with another solo traveller of your choice or with a friend. Single occupancy means that you have your own room and there is an additional cost for a private room.

Do I need travel insurance?

We require all our travellers to purchase travel insurance before the departure date of their booked trip. Travel insurance is necessary to cover unforeseen circumstances such as trip cancellation due to illness, trip interruptions, flight delayed, injuries or sickness while on holiday and stolen or lost luggage.

Travellers can choose a travel insurer of their choice, however we can also assist to facilitate it at a cost. Our fees are as below:

R650 for short trips in Africa(6 days or less)
R950 for international trips outside of the continent ( 6 days up to 12 days)

If you book it yourself, you will be required to email us your proof of travel insurance, one week before the trip.

What about internet access while I am on the trip?

You have two options for internet access, you can enable roaming on your South African number, or buy a Simcard abroad if you need to stay connected to the internet. The hotels we choose do come with free Wi-Fi connection, however this will not be available while you are out on tours.
