So many things are delightful about Turkey and we have combined some of the best that is on offer to create the ultimate trip. Turkey offers decadent food to indulge in, ancient ruins to explore, historically significant museums to visit and dynamic cities to discover. If visiting both Asia and Europe on one trip was ever on your list then this trip is for you because Turkey is continental.

We will begin by visiting Istanbul, the cosmopolitan mega-city of Turkey. Then we will discover Cappadocia which is without a doubt the crowning jewel of Turkey.

At Dalani trip planners, we have curated a group trip that will allow you to explore and discover the best of Turkey, with like-minded travelers. It is suitable for both women and men across all age groups.

Day 1 :

Departure

Today is departure day. Pre-booked flights depart from O.R Tambo and are headed to Turkey.

Day 2 :

Istanbul

Welcome to Istanbul, the biggest city in Europe. After our welcome meeting and settling in to our hotel. We begin our amazing time in Istanbul with a Bosporus sunset cruise.

Day 3 :

Hagia Sophia/Galata Tower

No visit to Istanbul is complete without a little Mosque Run. Today we will go visit the ever beautiful, Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque. We will also explore the shopping heaven of Istanbul; the Grand Bazaar.

Day 4 :

Istanbul

It’s our last day in Istanbul and it will be a free day to do some last minute shopping or sightseeing or choose your own adventure.

Cappadocia

Today we will fly to Cappadocia where we will be transferred to our cave accommodation. The rest of the day can be used to settle in, recover the jet-leg. In the evening we will have our first group dinner.

Cappadocia

In the wee hours of the morning, we will visit the hot air balloon view point. In the afternoon we will explore Cappadocia through a guided tour of the Göreme National park; sighting its historic sites, fairy chimneys, and natural landscapes.

Feel free to explore Cappadocia at your own pace, as it is your free day.

Back home

We have seen some of the best that Turkey has to offer and it’s now time to say goodbye and get ready to return back to South Africa.

What is per person sharing?

All prices listed for our group trips are per person sharing, which means you will be paired with another solo traveller of your choice or with a friend. Single occupancy means that you have your own room and there is an additional cost for a private room.

Do I need travel insurance?

We require all our travellers to purchase travel insurance before the departure date of their booked trip. Travel insurance is necessary to cover unforeseen circumstances such as trip cancellation due to illness, trip interruptions, flight delayed, injuries or sickness while on holiday and stolen or lost luggage.

Travellers can choose a travel insurer of their choice, however we can also assist to facilitate it at a cost. Our fees are as below:

R650 for short trips in Africa(6 days or less)
R950 for international trips outside of the continent ( 6 days up to 12 days)

Please add this as a travel extra when you make your booking if you want us to facilitate it for you with our suppliers.

If you book it yourself, you will be required to email us your proof of travel insurance, one week before the trip.

What about internet access while I am on the trip?

You have two options for internet access, you can enable roaming on your South African number, or buy a Simcard abroad if you need to stay connected to the internet. The hotels we choose do come with free Wi-Fi connection, however this will not be available while you are out on tours.

Do I require a visa to travel to Turkey?

Yes, South African passport holders need a visa to travel Turkey. It can be acquired through a free e-visa online application on the official government website. You will need your passport details, and details of your permanent residence in South Africa to complete the application. It takes less than 5 minutes to complete and the visa is valid for up to 30 days.

What is the currency in Turkey?

The currency is the Turkish Lira (TRY). It’s advisable to carry some cash, but credit cards are widely accepted in major cities.

Will I be able to communicate in English?

While Turkish is the official language, English is widely spoken in tourist areas, especially by people working in hotels, restaurants, and tourist sites.

What kind of plug/adaptor do I need for Turkey?

Turkey uses the European two-pin plug (Type C, F). The voltage is 220V.

What type of food can I expect in Turkey?

Turkish cuisine is diverse, including kebabs, mezes, baklava, and dishes featuring lamb, chicken, or seafood.

What should I do if I lose my passport or personal belongings?

Report the loss to the local authorities immediately and contact your embassy or consulate for assistance.
