Karibu to Zanzibar – the tropical jewel of East Africa! 🌴✨ Get ready for a 5-day island escape where history, culture, and pristine beaches come together to create an unforgettable experience.

Your adventure begins in Stone Town, the cultural heart of Zanzibar. Wander through its winding alleyways filled with centuries of history, vibrant markets, spice shops, and rich Swahili architecture. You’ll uncover the island’s fascinating past while sampling delicious local cuisine and soaking in the energy of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

From there, we journey to Nungwi, a lively village at the northern tip of the island, famous for its crystal-clear waters and powdery beaches. Here, you can dip into the turquoise ocean, visit the turtle conservation pond for a unique up-close encounter, and unwind as the sun sets on a dreamy dhow cruise across the Indian Ocean.

This trip balances culture, relaxation, and adventure, giving you the very best of Zanzibar’s two most iconic destinations – Stone Town & Nungwi.

Day 1 :

Zanzibar Arrival

Upon arrival, we will be whisked away to our hotel in Stonetown; the main city of Zanzibar. This is the old part of Zanzibar City and it is packed with so much history.

Day 2 :

Explore Stonetown

For a dose of culture and history, we will visit Stone Town, the historical heart of Zanzibar. Our itinerary includes a stop at Spice Farm, followed by a guided walking tour of Stone Town to discover its rich history and admire its famous doors, influenced by Indian and Arabic cultures.

Day 3 :

Travel to Nungwi

After breakfast, we will travel to Nungwi and check in at the hotel. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure — take time to relax by the beach, explore the surroundings, or simply unwind and soak up the island vibes.

Nungwi

After breakfast, we will venture out to explore Nungwi, where we’ll have the opportunity to swim with turtles in crystal clear waters. As the day draws to a close, we will embark on a sunset cruise, indulging in a seafood BBQ while taking in the stunning views of the Indian Ocean.

Our Final Day

As our time in Zanzibar comes to an end, we will cherish the memories under the East African sun, in the company of our newfound travel companions. We will return to South Africa filled with joyful memories and fond moments to cherish forever.

What is per person sharing?

All prices listed for our group trips are per person sharing, which means you will be paired with another solo traveller of your choice or with a friend. Single occupancy means that you have your own room and there is an additional cost for a private room.

Do I need travel insurance?

We require all our travellers to purchase travel insurance before the departure date of their booked trip. Travel insurance is necessary to cover unforeseen circumstances such as trip cancellation due to illness, trip interruptions, flight delayed, injuries or sickness while on holiday and stolen or lost luggage.

Travellers can choose a travel insurer of their choice, however we can also assist to facilitate it at a cost. Our fees are as below:

R650 for short trips in Africa(6 days or less)
R950 for international trips outside of the continent ( 6 days up to 12 days)

Please add this as a travel extra when you make your booking if you want us to facilitate it for you with our suppliers.

If you book it yourself, you will be required to email us your proof of travel insurance, one week before the trip.

What about internet access while I am on the trip?

You have two options for internet access, you can enable roaming on your South African number, or buy a Simcard abroad if you need to stay connected to the internet. The hotels we choose do come with free Wi-Fi connection, however this will not be available while you are out on tours.

Do I require a visa to travel to Zanzibar?

To enter Zanzibar, you don’t need a visa if you’re a tourist for up to 3 months. South African citizens must have a passport that is valid for 6 months after the departure date upon arrival in Namibia

How much should I budget for spending for one traveller?

Zanzibar is affordable, we would recommend R8k and above for meals, drinks and extra excursions

Do I need a yellow fever vaccination certificate?

Proof of yellow fever vaccination is only required upon arrival if you are travelling from a country with a risk of the virus, and South Africa has a low risk of the virus.

Which currency do I need to use in Zanzibar?

You can use the USD and OR Tanzanian shillings. You can with draw the USD in South Africa at a forex exchange at the airport, from your bank or you can withdraw Tanzania Shillings upon arrival in Zanzibar.

What type of clothing should I pack?

Light, breathable clothing is best for Zanzibar’s warm climate. Since Zanzibar is a predominantly Muslim region, it’s respectful to dress modestly when visiting Stone Town or local villages—covering shoulders and knees. Swimwear is fine at the beach and resorts. Comfortable sandals or water shoes are recommended for excursions.

What kind of food can I expect in Zanzibar?

Zanzibar offers a mix of Swahili, Indian, and Arabic-inspired cuisine. Popular dishes include seafood platters, coconut curries, biryani, and Zanzibar’s famous street food, such as Zanzibar pizza and Urojo soup. Fresh tropical fruits are also widely available.

Is alcohol available in Zanzibar?

Yes, alcohol is available in hotels, beach resorts, and some restaurants. However, since Zanzibar is a predominantly Muslim region, alcohol is not widely sold in local shops or public areas, except in tourist zones.
