Upon your arrival from Johannesburg, our drivers will be there to give you a warm welcome and escort you to your accommodation.

We will take some time to settle down and get comfortable in Accra, the vibrant capital city of Ghana. This day is all about easing into the local atmosphere, allowing you to unwind after your journey.

Accra City Tour

To truly understand a destination, it’s important to know its history. Today, we’ll take you on a tour through Accra’s rich past. We’ll visit historical landmarks, try traditional foods, and learn about the locals. The highlight of the day will be the visit to the world-famous Makola market, where you’ll get to shop for souvenirs and meet local artisans. We’ll also stop at Independence Square to take in the breathtaking views of the city.

Free Day

Today in Accra, you have a free day to explore the city at your own pace. We highly recommend spending some time at one of the local beach clubs, where you can unwind, soak up the sun, and enjoy the coastal vibes. It’s the perfect spot to relax with a refreshing drink, take in the beautiful ocean views, and maybe even indulge in some delicious local cuisine.

Makola Market Shopping Day

Today, we’ll immerse ourselves in the vibrant energy of Accra with a visit to the famous Makola Market. Get ready for an exciting shopping day where you can explore the bustling stalls filled with colorful fabrics, unique crafts, traditional clothing, and an array of local goods.

Makola Market is not just a shopping destination—it’s a cultural experience. You’ll have the opportunity to interact with local vendors, discover authentic Ghanaian products, and perhaps pick up some souvenirs to remember your trip by.

Today is your free day in Ghana, offering you the perfect opportunity to explore the country at your own pace. Whether you choose to dive into the vibrant culture, visit historical sites, or simply relax and enjoy the local atmosphere, the day is yours to design.

Cape Coast Day

Today, we’ll embark on a captivating journey to Cape Coast, one of Ghana’s most historically significant and culturally rich destinations. As we travel to this coastal city, you’ll be stepping into a place steeped in history, offering a deep connection to Ghana’s past.

In Cape Coast, we’ll explore its iconic landmarks, including the renowned Cape Coast Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This powerful monument provides a poignant look into the history of the transatlantic slave trade, offering insight into a critical chapter of global history.

Back Home

Today marks the end of our trip as we prepare to return home. We’ll begin the day by checking out of our accommodation and ensuring all our belongings are packed. Once that’s done, we’ll make our way to the airport with ample time to spare, allowing for a smooth and stress-free journey. What is per person sharing?

All prices listed for our group trips are per person sharing, which means you will be paired with another solo traveller of your choice or with a friend. Single occupancy means that you have your own room and there is an additional cost for a private room.

Do I need travel insurance?

We require all our travellers to purchase travel insurance before the departure date of their booked trip. Travel insurance is necessary to cover unforeseen circumstances such as trip cancellation due to illness, trip interruptions, flight delayed, injuries or sickness while on holiday and stolen or lost luggage.

Travellers can choose a travel insurer of their choice, however we can also assist to facilitate it at a cost. Our fees are as below:

R650 for short trips in Africa(6 days or less)
R950 for international trips outside of the continent ( 6 days up to 12 days)

Please add this as a travel extra when you make your booking if you want us to facilitate it for you with our suppliers.

If you book it yourself, you will be required to email us your proof of travel insurance, one week before the trip.

What about internet access while I am on the trip?

You have two options for internet access, you can enable roaming on your South African number, or buy a Simcard abroad if you need to stay connected to the internet. The hotels we choose do come with free Wi-Fi connection, however this will not be available while you are out on tours.

Do I require a visa to travel to Ghana?

Yes, a visa is required and can be obtained on arrival for a fee of 150 USD. South African citizens must have a passport that is valid upon arrival in Ghana. South African citizens can also apply for a Ghana visa in South Africa at a Ghanian embassy for around R900 prior to travelling to Ghana.

Do I need a yellow fever vaccination certificate?

Proof of yellow fever vaccination is only required upon arrival if you are travelling from a country with a risk of the virus.

How much should I budget for spending for one traveller

Ghana is pricey for tourist, we would recommend R10k and above for meals, drinks and extra excursions.

What currency is used in Ghana?

Ghana’s official currency is the Ghanaian cedi (GHS). It’s advisable to carry both cash and cards.

What language is spoken in Ghana?

The official language is English, but local languages like Twi, Ewe, and Ga are widely spoken.

What are some must-try foods in Ghana?

Try local dishes like jollof rice, banku, fufu, kenkey, and fried fish.

Can I buy local crafts as souvenirs in Ghana?

Yes, Ghana is known for its colorful textiles, beadwork, wood carvings, and pottery, all perfect for souvenirs.
